Are you a recreational paddler, professional boater working in the industry, or search and rescue? The American Canoe Association Swiftwater Rescue Workshop teaches recognition and avoidance of common river hazards, execution of boater self-rescue techniques, and rescue techniques for paddlers in distress. Emphasis is placed both on personal safety and on simple, commonly used skills. Both fundamental and more advanced techniques for dealing with hazards will be covered.
If you are going to be spending time near moving current, then we highly recommend taking this course as a way to help you find ways to mitigate risk (thereby reducing rescue scenarios) as well as to deal with swift water rescue situations.
